Harold Bouvard est un artiste qui fabrique et déconstruit par des gestes sculpturaux radicaux, parfois teintés d’un romantisme assumé, une œuvre multicouche. L’artiste place au centre de son projet la transformation de la matière, point de départ constitutif d’hypothèses et d’expérimentations. Arrachage de contreplaqué, collage de sciure, peinture et découpage sont autant de traitements des matières et des transformations qu’il opère.
Au-delà des influences stylistiques de l’artisanat et du fait main, son œuvre implique une complicité de la pensée avec la forme et de la poésie avec la fonction.
Harold Bouvard is an artist who creates and deconstructs multi-layered works through radical sculptural gestures, sometimes tinged with a deliberate romanticism. At the heart of his project lies the transformation of matter, a starting point for his hypotheses and experiments. Tearing plywood, gluing sawdust, painting, and cutting are all methods he employs to treat materials and transform them.
Beyond the stylistic influences of craftsmanship and handmade techniques, his work reveals a complicity between thought and form, and between poetry and function.
