Le concept d'inserts repose sur une invention d’Alfred Hitchcock, le Macguffin, principe consistant à insérer le plan d’un objet dans une séquence pour en perturber la lecture. Le Macguffin donc comme un prétexte pour brouiller les pistes et amener une nouvelle interprétation et de l’objet et de la séquence.
Dans cette même optique, le livre mixe des images d’oeuvres plastiques créées par Fabienne Radi avec des images de cinéma (photographiées sur écran TV et souvent recadrées) et des citations d’horizons divers. Les images et citations sont regroupées en chapitres dont l’appellation reprend et détourne des titres de films. Les images des oeuvres sont des vignettes découpées et insérées dans le corpus, sur le modèle d’un herbier ou encore d’un missel parsemé d’images pieuses.

The concept of inserts is based on an invention by Alfred Hitchcock called the MacGuffin, a principle by which the outline of an object is inserted into a sequence in order to confound the legibility. Thus, the MacGuffin functions as a pretext for covering the tracks and for presenting a new interpretation of both, the object and the sequence.
Adopting the same viewpoint, the book blends the images of sculptures created by Fabienne Radi with cinematic images (photos taken of TV screens and often reframed). The images and citations are regrouped into chapters with headings that adopt and invert film titles. The images of the works are truncated vignettes inserted into the corpus, following the model of the herbarium or, furthermore, the missal with its pious images scattered throughout.
